Rather than adopt fixed measurements that could become outdated if USPS rules change, the board agreed to remove detailed subsections (identified in the draft as B–E) and retain a single recommendation that residents consult the postmaster and conform to USPS requirements. The board discussed creating pull‑off aprons at mailbox locations and noted such work could add thousands of dollars to road projects.
Members also discussed speed‑limit signage, the purpose of state cameras at a bridge, and the enforcement challenges that follow inconsistent posted limits. The board asked staff to email Paul, the local postmaster, and seek his input about mailbox placement in town so the ordinance will reflect site‑specific and operational realities.
No ordinance was adopted; the draft will return for editing and further review after postmaster input.
