Council considered and approved a five‑year contract authorizing the president of the council to sign a contract between the City of New Orleans and Cortiva Agra Science LLC to share existing data collected by the Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board. Under council rules, contracts over one year must go through committee; this contract was considered under suspension of Rule 57 because of timing constraints.
Council members were told the agreement would not require city funds and is revenue‑generating, estimated at roughly $40,000 per year. The clerk reported the contract had been circulated to council offices but could not timely appear on the committee agenda. After questions, the council moved, seconded and adopted the measure; the clerk recorded the vote as six yays and no nays.
Council Member Harris noted the contract’s limited fiscal exposure to the city and offered to make staff available for questions; Council Member King seconded the motion. The contract transfers data the city already collects and does not obligate general fund spending per the presentation on the floor. The council approved suspension of the rule and adoption of the contract authorization on the record.
