Board approves 4% base salary increase for administrative and non‑union staff

The Cary CCSD 26 Board of Education voted May 26 to grant a 4% base salary increase for administrative and non‑union employee groups for the 2026–27 school year.
Mr. Shepard presented the recommendation, saying the increase applies to principals, assistant principals, district coordinators, central office staff, occupational and physical therapists, transportation personnel and other named roles. “Our recommendation for our administrative team and non‑union groups … is that they receive a base salary increase of 4% for the 2026–27 school year,” he said. The district estimated the year‑to‑year cost at $92,348 and indicated that amount has been factored into the FY27 budget.
The motion included an exception for individuals already under contract for 2026–27; the board approved the measure by roll call vote with all present members recorded as yes.
Board discussion referenced the district’s goal to provide an affordable, fair compensation package and to remain competitive for recruitment and retention. No amendments were proposed on the floor; staff said the increase aligns with projected federal funding returning to the district for 2026–27.
The board adjourned following the vote.
