The Cary CCSD 26 Board of Education voted May 26 to hire Gallagher to perform a districtwide salary study at a cost of $29,225.
Mrs. Colonis summarized the proposal, saying the study will examine compensation for every employee group — union and non‑union — and that Gallagher will provide recommendations on salary structures as part of the contract. “The cost is $29,225,” she said during the presentation, and added that the data will be aged to a market baseline and is typically considered relevant for about three years.
Board members asked whether Gallagher would present final findings; the consultant confirmed it will deliver a final presentation when the study is complete. Officials also noted Gallagher can provide ad‑hoc updates for new or changed positions if the district later needs follow‑up data.
The board approved the contract by roll call vote, with all six voting members recorded as yes. The contract’s expense was presented as part of budget planning and staff said it can be used to inform FY27 decisions.
The study’s findings — including any recommended salary structure changes and related budget impacts — will be returned to the board for consideration after Gallagher completes its analysis.
