Dr. Thomas told the board the change followed a certification by the Illinois Labor Relations Board in November 2025 and negotiations earlier this year. “It was a successful negotiation,” Dr. Thomas said, adding that the MOA places the affected employees in compensation groups with annual increases aligned to other CESPA employees and confirms a standard work schedule (10 hours per week: two hours a day for five days).
Board members moved and seconded the motion and approved it by roll call vote. All six voting members — Stacy Salt, Darling, Julie Jetty, Bridget Sandlin, Mindy Hartman and Jason Jansik — voted yes; one member, Katherine Potter, was absent.
The memorandum was described as an update to the existing CESPA contract; board materials note that the agreement aligns pay treatment and work-hour definitions for the newly included group. The board did not amend the MOA on the dais and did not record any objections during discussion.
The board’s approval completes the local bargaining step; implementation details such as adjusted payroll placement and effective dates were included in the board packet but were not elaborated on during the public meeting. The board moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
