At the finance update the board said the required annual financial reports to New York State were behind: the 2022 report has been filed by UHY, the 2023 audit is started but incomplete and the 2024/2025 work had not been completed. The town reported it contracted Teal Becker in mid‑2025 to reconcile accounts; Teal Becker completed reconciliations for parts of 2024–25 work to date and the town reported $34,974 spent to date with that firm. The board also said it had spent $57,483 with UHY and that the town lacked written, consistent engagement letters and documented deliverables for some contracted bookkeeping work.
Officials described a troubling situation where multiple bookkeeping providers had online accounting access without a clear contract or oversight, prompting the board to restrict access and pause some vendors while it clarifies records. The board said progress is underway to get reconciliations current and to establish clearer engagement agreements with vendors.
The board then read and adopted Resolution No. 2 (2026) authorizing retention of Teal Becker CPAs to provide accounting and advisory services and authorized the supervisor to execute the engagement. The motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
