Little Falls council adopts two ordinances to add handicap parking and amend street rules

The Little Falls Township Council voted on Nov. 10 to adopt two ordinances that amend the township's street regulations and add designated handicap parking and a loading zone in key downtown locations.
Mayor Dan Ando summarized the parking proposals before the council said the measures respond to resident and business requests for closer, accessible parking. "We are looking to address that with items number four and five as well as adding a loading zone with item number six," he said.
Ordinance 1529 (second reading and public hearing) amends chapter 7 of the township code on street regulations to add specified handicap parking spaces. Ordinance 1531 (also a second reading and public hearing) further updates chapter 7. No members of the public spoke during the hearings.
Councilwoman Habitz moved to adopt Ordinance 1529, with Councilman Venturi seconding; Councilman Venturi moved to adopt Ordinance 1531, with Councilman Murphy seconding. Both measures passed on roll-call votes recorded by the clerk. The roll call recorded affirmative votes from Councilmember Murphy, Councilmember Habitz, Councilmember Venturi and Council President Scoba.
Practical changes noted by the council include new handicap spaces on Wilmore Road and on Main Street between Maple and Patterson, a loading zone near 44 Main (by Diamond Floral), and additional handicap parking near the Walmart area and in front of local businesses including Total Recovery and AIM. Council members said the changes followed consultations with county officials to address county-owned road segments.
Three related ordinances (1530, 1532 and 1533) amending chapter 7 (handicap parking and fee provisions) were introduced at the meeting and set for second readings and public hearings on Nov. 24, 2025.
The council president closed the hearings and the ordinances take effect according to municipal ordinance procedures. The council also noted continuing coordination with the police department and county representatives to implement signage and markings.
