MAC votes to recommend extending two members’ terms until replacements are appointed

The Midwifery Advisory Council moved and carried a recommendation to extend the terms of two current members who would otherwise end their terms on June 30, 2026. Staff told the council the board has posted recruitment for two licensed midwife positions and one physician position; no applications were available for consideration at this meeting but staff reported two applications had been received after the meeting materials were finalized.
A motion to recommend extending the terms of the two midwife members (Matteline Weisner and Mason Wilson Tanib) until the board can appoint replacements was moved and seconded. A roll-call vote recorded yes votes from Faith Freeman, Karen Rosley, Mason Wilson Tanib and Matteline Weisner; the motion will be presented to the full Medical Board of California at its May 2026 quarterly meeting for final approval.
