District construction staff delivered a progress update on Eagle Bond projects, saying phase‑one classroom additions and renovations at Jefferson, McKinley and Royal Heights are proceeding on schedule and under budget.
Presenters showed site photos and outlined interior work underway, HVAC testing and tie‑ins between new additions and existing buildings. Staff said they anticipate completing the phase‑one classroom work in time for occupancy this August and described phased site improvements (parking and other civil work) planned for summer 2027 and classroom renovations planned for summer 2028.
Board members raised concerns about neighborhood impacts from prolonged staging and the timing of parking‑lot repairs. One board member noted homes near Royal Heights are currently uninhabitable and asked whether temporary patching or earlier completion could reduce community disruption. District staff said areas used for material laydown and staging will be cleaned up and that full civil repairs will be scheduled with phase two to avoid redoing work twice.
Facilities staff also described contingencies for encountering old piping and other subsurface conditions that have delayed limited items but said crews have addressed those issues and concrete work is being scheduled.
The update followed the board’s earlier formal recognition of the April bond election results and the district’s commitment to apply $11 million in reserves toward the program. Staff said punch‑list work will begin soon and the team is coordinating summer schedules to manage outside work and interior renovations.
