Lincoln OKs cooperative agreement with Nebraska Game and Parks for Holmes Lake angler access

The Lincoln City Council voted unanimously April 13 to approve a cooperative agreement with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to improve fishing access at Holmes Lake.
J.J. Els of Lincoln Parks and Recreation described the work as shore-hugger dock installations at two locations and a shoreline-repair area to address erosion. He said construction funding will be provided 100% by the Game and Parks Commission while the city assumes an obligation to maintain the docks for a minimum of 25 years; if a major capital replacement is necessary beyond normal maintenance, the dock could be closed while the agencies negotiate replacement funding.
Councilman Doerr asked about the number and locations of the docks and was told there will be two docks — one near the boat launch on the south side and another on the north shoreline — and one shoreline restoration area. The council approved the cooperative agreement by roll-call vote.
