Board approves FY27 consolidated district plan and designates Wipfli as district auditor; consent agenda passes

Assistant Superintendent Shenita Sims presented the FY27 consolidated district plan and explained that approving the plan authorizes the district to apply for federal grants including Title I, II, III, IV and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
"Before we could even apply for these grants, we have to first get approval from the school board to submit this district plan," Sims told trustees, describing how each Title grant is tied to specific uses such as services for students at risk (Title I), professional development (Title II), EL programming (Title III) and supplemental activities (Title IV).
A motion to approve submission of the FY27 consolidated district plan was made and seconded; the board recorded unanimous affirmative votes (five 'Aye' votes recorded) and the motion carried.
Later in the meeting Todd Latham explained that, under the Illinois School Code, the board must annually designate an auditor. The administration recommended Wipfli based on prior work and process automation that aided audits. The board moved and approved the designation of Wipfli as auditor for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.
The board also approved the consent agenda by recorded vote; items included personnel changes, March financials, and gifts and grants: $500 from Richardson Electronics Limited to the GHS Robotics Club and $17,411 from the Mill Creek PTO to purchase playground equipment.
No roll call vote tallies by name were provided in the public transcript; the meeting record indicated the standard 'Aye' responses and the motions carried.
