Edgewater Board of Adjustment names 2026 leadership, planners and engineering firm

Robert Christiansen was elected chairman of the Borough of Edgewater Board of Adjustment for 2026 at the board’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 7, 2026 at 55 River Road.
The board approved a slate of appointments by voice vote: Haig Shirinian as vice chairman and Nancy Hayes as secretary. The board also appointed Denise Travis as board attorney, Kathryn Gregory as board planner and selected Collier Engineering as the board’s engineering firm for 2026. Officials announced the board will meet on the first Wednesday of every month in 2026 and noted a 10:00 p.m. curfew for meetings.
All reorganization motions were made and seconded from the dais and recorded as carried with "all in favor; none opposed." Chairman Christiansen moved several of the appointments; Shant Shirinian moved the initial motion to appoint Christiansen as chairman. Vice Chairman Shirinian later moved to accept the prior meeting minutes, a motion seconded by Richard Gannon; the minutes were accepted by voice vote.
The appointments set the panel that will hear land-use applications and variances through the year and establish which professionals the board will rely on for legal and planning advice. The board’s formal actions at the reorganization were procedural rather than policy-setting; the appointments mean those named will represent or advise the board on completeness and variance questions going forward.
The meeting was adjourned after the evening’s agenda business.
