Weatherford Housing Authority reports $4.23 million in 2024 assistance, highlights HUD 'high performance' status

Muschino told the council the authority receives "a little over $4,000,000" in federal funding and reported total housing assistance payments of $4,232,482 in 2024. She said the Housing Choice Voucher program saw an average monthly increase of $49,600 in assistance in 2024, allowing the authority to serve about 10 additional families each month.
April Loveland, vice chair of the Weatherford Housing Authority, said the board has focused on fiscal stewardship, creating a pay plan and staff-evaluation methods, and improving financial efficiency by maximizing resources and using interns. Muschino said the authority does not own rental property and serves qualifying low-income households under voucher rules that require U.S. citizenship or permanent-resident status.
Muschino told council members the authority has emphasized cost efficiency and administrative reallocation "in anticipation of potential future directives from HUD." She said those steps include reduced staffing in some areas, development of an executive evaluation system, and other measures intended to sustain program operations.
No council action was required on the presentation. Muschino thanked the council and invited questions; one councilmember asked for a copy of the presentation.
