Board signs off to finish Blissful Treats street plan; manager and fire companies give operational reports

At its May 5 meeting the Leacock Township Board of Supervisors voted to finish the land‑development plan for street improvements associated with the Blissful Treats project at the southeast corner of Ronks Road.
Applicant Mike Saxinger told the board the project will not include a café and that a push‑button will be added to the traffic signal. Board members discussed that the Highway Occupancy Permit (HOP) for the work expires in September; after discussion Supervisor Carl Smucker moved to finish the plan as shown in the land‑development submission and the board voted unanimously to proceed.
Manager Chris Slaymaker gave routine operations updates: he reported installation of a solar‑powered light at the township park, ongoing coordination with Christiana leadership and Pequea Valley regarding ambulance coverage, a delay in delivery of the 2026 Mack dump truck due to the vendor’s turnpike work (estimated available in about two weeks), and that the township’s paving machine has been replenished.
Representatives from the Intercourse Fire Company reported eight calls in the month, six inside Leacock Township, increased training, and installation of solar panels on their station. A Pequea Valley Fire Company representative reported a successful spring sale and said a 20‑year financial plan is complete and will be presented later. Zoning Officer Joe Kennedy reported 26 permits issued in April and reviewed pending zoning hearing matters. The board adjourned at 7:48 P.M.
