Township discusses AT&T small-cell proposal; manager and public-works report operational updates

Township officials and a consultant discussed an AT&T proposal for a 5G small-cell installation at the April 20 meeting, but the board tabled action and said it will reach out to Kitchen Kettle Village after the village expressed no interest.
A.J. Tejlar of Network Building & Consulting said AT&T had looked at Kitchen Kettle Village because the location "display[s] small cells when they get busy," and that Kitchen Kettle had no interest, citing possible interference with future development. Tejlar said the financial arrangement would favor private property owners over the township; the board tabled the item and agreed to contact Kitchen Kettle for further clarification.
Manager Chris Slaymaker told the board the MS4 contract with the Little Blue/Green Corridor is now amicable and the signed contract will arrive soon. Slaymaker also said he will vote on PSATS resolutions at an upcoming conference "as suggested," and presented a breakdown of capital equipment and vehicle replacement estimates for the board's information.
Public Works reported that riprap at the park has been removed and replaced and that information was sent to "Amanda" and Hanover Engineering for MS4 documentation. Mr. Houser said the 2026 Mack dump truck is nearly complete and expected around May 8.
Zoning Officer Joe Kennedy said the draft for Linden Coffee did not contain the correct language and he is working to correct it. He also said permit applications for floodplain work at 3528 A Scenic Rd. have been received and are being processed by the township floodplain administrator so the work can be completed.
No formal votes were taken on the AT&T item during the meeting.
