Commission recognizes Union High drama champions, approves fair volunteers and reviews HR updates

The commission opened May 18 by recognizing Union High School's drama team for winning the state championship; the coach said the students "are the hardest-working kids in the school" and that six seniors were in attendance.
Human Resources Director Judy Stevenson presented a five-year award to I.T. Director Taylor Warr and described updates to the volunteer application and a draft volunteer handbook intended for county fair volunteers. The commission approved eight volunteers for the county fair after Human Resource Generalist Tommi Mascaro presented the list.
In HR updates, Stevenson reported an Employee Appreciation Event went well, announced safety training on May 27 titled "Preventing Workplace Strains & Sprains," said a full-time I.T. job offer was extended and that interviews continue for a part-time Justice Court Clerk position.
The commission also convened a closed session to discuss the character, professional competence, or physical or mental health of an individual; the session concluded with no action taken.
Next steps: HR will distribute the updated volunteer application and handbook, complete hiring steps for the I.T. position and schedule the safety training.
