Stratmoor Hills Sanitation District adopts 2025 budget, sets mill levy at zero

The Stratmoor Hills Sanitation District Board of Directors adopted the district’s 2025 final budget and set the mill levy rate at zero during its regular meeting on Dec. 11, 2024.
District Manager Kirk Medina reviewed the budget with the board and said there were no changes since the prior meeting. Medina told the board the sanitation assessment amount would increase by 2% and that tap fees were reduced to a more accurate figure. He said additional funds were included to expand sewer maintenance work next year and that the district is anticipating a 9% increase in wastewater treatment costs.
Vice-President James Pesicka moved to adopt the budget by Resolution No. 2024-02 and to set the mill levy at zero for the 2025 calendar year; Director Cindy Dent seconded. President Robert Colgrove and the full five-member board voted "Aye," and the motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
The meeting record shows the board also approved routine items by unanimous vote: the minutes from the Nov. 20 regular meeting and the meeting agenda for Dec. 11. Later in the meeting, the board approved the November 2024 financial reports after the district manager reported that bank accounts reconciled with QuickBooks and that sanitation revenues were tracking at about 92% for this time of year.
Manager’s operational updates included renewal of the district’s property and liability insurance at $10,638; a report that contractor DRC Construction Services cleaned more than 6,000 feet of sewer main and is scheduled to return in January or February; and notice that property damage at 551 and 555 Loomis Avenue has been addressed and corrected.
