Commissioners finalize Parks Appreciation Day plans; parks manager reports project updates

Ongoing projects and operations: Harrow reported the Allen Anderson boathouse rental program is operating under a one-year rental structure with roughly 39 of 42 slips occupied and additional locker rental options available. The city has purchased reservation software intended to support slip reservations and other facility bookings. Harrow also said the splash pad requires electrical/equipment relocation and those repairs will be planned after the towns major summer events (work scheduled after Sept. 20 to avoid disruption). The home-port dock project at Hensley Park is expected to go out to bid in July.
Urban forestry and events: staff noted a pre-construction meeting for removing 18 trees deemed to carry significant pathogens (work tentatively slated for April 23) and reminded the commission of a city tree giveaway on April 26 (Domino Creek, 11:30). A ribbon-cutting for phase-1 sports fields was mentioned for April 24.
What the commission asked for: commissioners requested clear outreach to neighbors on tree removals and replacement plans, consideration of parking impacts near downtown businesses, and coordination with arts and historic groups where project designs may touch adjacent cultural resources. Staff said they will return with implementation details and draft agreements for operations as needed.
No formal votes were taken on these operational items; staff will proceed with planned scheduling and administrative steps.
