Avi Yetman told the Community Health Board that a Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) mini grant allowed county staff to purchase a refrigerator to support a partnership with Angel Wings community garden at the local high school, keeping donated produce fresh for community distribution.
Yetman also described an Allina Foundation grant focused on cannabis prevention. He said Isanti County’s measures of likelihood to use cannabis among students in grades 8 through 11 are higher than the statewide average; the Allina grant will fund a six‑month advertising clip that the county plans to run at the Cambridge movie theater to reach teens.
The board heard the grant updates as information; no formal policy or contract approvals were recorded during the meeting. Staff indicated the advertising campaign will run for six months, and the SHIP-funded refrigerator is already in use through the Angel Wings partnership.
