Gig Harbor swears in four officers and promotes two leaders as department reaches full staffing

Chief Federici reported to the council that targeted recruiting and partnership with human resources have allowed the Gig Harbor Police Department to fill longstanding vacancies and reach full staffing.
"I stand here today to say mission accomplished," Chief Federici told the council, crediting focused recruiting, creative outreach and background investigators. The council and mayor swore in four officers introduced by the chief: Dustin Holbrook, Kelly Hinzman, April Goff and Kelly Palmore. Each officer recited the oath; the mayor and staff coordinated a pinning and brief photo opportunity.
Federici also announced internal promotions: Detective Patrick Sam was promoted to detective sergeant and Jerb Daniel was promoted to operations lieutenant; both received remarks and badge-pinning. The chief described the changes as strengthening the department’s investigative and operational capacity.
Mayor Barber and council members congratulated the officers and staff for recruiting success and the mayor invited families forward for the badge pinning. Chief Federici closed by thanking city administration, HR staff and the community for support.
