Gig Harbor City Council on May 26 celebrated the retirement of Patty Magallion after 28 years working for the city.
City administrator Katrina Knudson introduced Magallion and praised her “unwavering commitment to customer service and process,” saying those qualities make a difference in local government. “Patty has been a steady and trusted presence,” Knudson said, and presented Magallion with a plaque and a policy‑allotted $200 gift plus an Alaska Airlines gift certificate.
Supervisor Paul Rice recalled working with Magallion throughout his career and read an email from Council member Michael Perot praising her service and noting her recognition by the Washington Association of Permit Technicians. Magallion spoke briefly, thanked family and colleagues, and said she looks forward to spending time with her grandchildren.
Council members stood for photos and offered remarks. Council member Rodenberg said he could attest to Magallion’s competence and demeanor and thanked her for her service. The mayor then closed the recognition and the council moved on to regular business.
The recognition included the presentation of a plaque and a small city‑policy gift; staff arranged for photos with Magallion and her family.
