At the Jan. 6, 2026 meeting of the Town of Atkinson Budget Committee, Selectmen's Representative Wendy Barker reported on recent Selectmen discussions of town warrant articles and summarized outcomes and dollar amounts for some items.
According to Barker, Article 2026-02 (Phase 1 Police Station) was reported as approved. Article 2026-05 (Shim & Overlay) was reported as approved with an amount of $489,000. Article 2026-06 (Fire Department Command Vehicle) was reported as tabled. Article 2026-07 (Fire Department Capital Reserve) was reported as approved at $120,000, and Article 2026-08 (Building Needs Expendable Trust) was reported as approved at $60,000. Article 2026-09 (Highway Department Capital Reserve Fund) was listed at $30,000. Article 2026-10 (Backhoe Purchase) was reported as tabled at $67,900. Article 2026-11 (Revised Tax Credit) was reported as approved. Article 2026-12 (SoRock Petition) and Article 2026-13 (Town Treasurer Compensation Increase) were reported as tabled, at $7,000 and $4,000 respectively.
Barker presented these outcomes as part of the Selectmen's report to the committee; the meeting record does not include separate, detailed debate on each warrant article within the Budget Committee during this session. The committee did take other formal actions during the meeting on line items and to continue the public hearing to Jan. 9, 2026.
The Selectmen's report highlighted the larger-dollar warrant articles and showed which items remain under consideration; several smaller or capital requests were recorded as approved or tabled as noted.
