Parks staff: community center entryways done, Colburn Phase 2 at 90% design; Wedge Park bid issued

Marta, parks staff, updated the board on capital projects, saying crews poured concrete pads at the community center east, west and north entries and completed back stairs behind rental rooms. "All 3 of those have been poured and they are done," Marta said, noting the north/main entrance is still temporarily closed while finishing work continues.
On Colburn Park Phase 2, Marta said the design team is working toward 90% design. She described the site as land acquired from the school district that will include an all-inclusive playground, picnic shelters and a small stage area for music. Staff said they are still waiting on final grant confirmation for that project.
Wedge Park went out to bid on Jan. 29; Marta said a mandatory contractor walkthrough is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. on-site and bids are due March 4 at 1 p.m. "What that means is in order to bid on the project, the contractor would have had to have attended the mandatory walk through meeting," she said, explaining walkthroughs help ensure accurate bids and reduce problems from firms that do not fully understand scope.
Board members asked follow-up questions about why walkthroughs are mandatory and whether work at DACA and the 5 Acre site affects budgets or schedules. Marta said DACA will receive a disc-swing combo in an already-vacant area and that at 5 Acre crews removed old play structures and concrete footings. Staff expects contractors to be on-site soon to pour footings and will report back at the next meeting.
Staff also noted Wedge Park had contractor interest (questions received via email) and expressed hope to present bid results at the next parks meeting if bids come in under budget.
