Matheson said the consent agenda will include a Lodging Tax Advisory Commission appointment and proclamations for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day. The meeting will also include a legislative session recap by the city’s lobbyist and a public hearing on a petition to vacate a portion of 62nd Avenue East.
Notable items for council action include a first reading of ordinances to adopt transportation and park impact fees and resolutions to award contracts for Port of Tacoma Road phase 2a and the David Court water and stormwater improvement project; Matheson said both projects received competitive bids. The police department’s quarterly report and a sewer comprehensive plan follow‑up also appear on the agenda.
Matheson previewed May study‑session topics, including Pierce Transit’s 2045 long‑range plan and a possible council resolution encouraging the transit board to place a ballot measure forwarding that plan. Councilors indicated support for scheduling an America250 proclamation for July 4.
