The City of Fife Parks Advisory Board voted to add two new names to the Fountain Memorial in Fountain Memorial Park after receiving three nominations and hearing two in-person presentations.
Marta, a city parks staff member, opened the item and said staff had received three nominations. Sarah Lane presented a tribute nominating Rudolph Laval King III and described the family's gratitude for the city’s support following a family tragedy. Sarah Lane said, "So all the detectives throughout the whole process of us getting, and catching the bad guys and getting them prosecuted, they were right there by our sides...They're like our family." Lou Wolfram then presented a nomination for Winston Marsh, outlining Marsh’s long record of municipal and regional service and quoting Marsh’s own stated philosophy: "My core philosophy...is one of balancing resources and the needs of our community."
After the presentations a board member moved to add both Rudolph Laval King III and Winston Marsh to the Fountain Memorial; another member seconded. The board called for the vote, members answered "Aye," none opposed, and the chair declared the motion carried. The board said the names "will be on the fountain in June" and referenced June 4 at 6 p.m. for related scheduling and correspondence.
The vote was a formal board action recorded in the meeting minutes; no individual roll-call vote tally by name was recorded on the transcript beyond the vocal affirmations. The board asked staff to send correspondence to nominators with event details.
Next steps: staff will provide nominators with correspondence about the June installation and logistics, and the city will finalize placement of the nameplates on the Fountain Memorial.
