The Gig Harbor City Council appointed Council member Julie Martin as the city’s elected representative to the South Sound Military and Communities Partnership (SSMCP) and designated Council member Rodenberg as her alternate.
Housing, Health and Human Services Manager Shay Smiley reminded council that the SSMCP includes cities, counties, tribes, nonprofits and JBLM representatives and requested the city name an elected official to sit on the partnership’s elected official council. Council asked clarifying questions about the time commitment (Smiley: quarterly meetings plus an annual in-person meeting). Council member Martin and Council member Rodenberg both volunteered; a motion to appoint Julie Martin with Rodenberg as alternate carried 7–0.
Council did not attach additional conditions to the appointment; Smiley and staff will register the city’s representative with SSMCP and share meeting materials and schedules.
