The Westford 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee on April 16 confirmed a schedule of community meetings and outlined outreach and organizational steps as it ramps up preparations for the town’s 300th anniversary.
The committee set four outreach sessions: Roudenbush Community Center on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 PM (to be hosted by Dawn Brooks), Cameron Senior Center on Friday, May 8 at 1:00 PM (pending confirmation), Westford Museum on Sunday, May 17 between 1:00–3:00 PM (exact time to be confirmed), and a virtual meeting via WestfordCAT on Thursday, June 11 at 7:00 PM. Members said the April 25 meeting will use a meeting framework template prepared by Secretary Brittany Cannata.
For publicity, Emily Glass prepared a flyer the committee plans to distribute across community hubs, and Angela Harkness recommended asking the Town of Westford to post the flyer on the municipal landing page. Chair Ken Tebbetts agreed to contact the town manager’s office and Town IT to learn the posting process and to pursue adding a committee listing on the town website; the committee noted there is currently only a museum spotlight and no dedicated Westford 300 page.
Angela suggested running committee funds through the town’s enterprise fund so the town would manage funds and potentially assist with grant applications; members agreed to examine that option alongside forming a 501(c)(3). Chair Tebbetts proposed a subcommittee to research funding and organizational structure; Seema Pusalkar and Brittany agreed to serve, and Ken will recruit a third member and confirm the subcommittee’s scope.
Ken and Dave reported outreach to Westford Academy about branding and art for the anniversary but said key stakeholders at the Academy have not yet met to make a decision; they expect updates at the May meeting. Ming Zhang said he had spoken with a Concord 250 committee contact who shared funding strategies and grant ideas and will follow up to collect links and materials.
The committee did not receive any public comments at the meeting and adjourned at 7:58 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for May 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM in person at Town Hall with a hybrid option.
