Dickinson supervisors direct draft ordinance and RFB as trash contract approaches renewal

The Board noted the current contract ends in March 2025 and considered several cost-control and operational options: switching recycling pickup to every other week; increasing the number of annual trash tags/bags from six to 12; requiring all trash be placed in bags (while retaining tag/bag provisions for overflow); pursuing in‑house billing for service charges; and evaluating whether to join the South Hampton Township contract as an alternative.
Manager Larry Barrick was directed to prepare a draft Ordinance and a Request for Bids (RFB) within the next month, to solicit resident input and keep the procurement timeline moving. Supervisors emphasized the need for public engagement during the RFB process.
The Board did not adopt changes at the meeting but set a timeline for staff to return with formal draft documents and resident feedback prior to issuing any RFB or making contractual decisions.
