East Rockhill Planning Commission recommends 25 mph limits on Three Mile Run Road and Old Bethlehem Road

The East Rockhill Township Planning Commission voted unanimously June 13 to recommend a draft ordinance that would reclassify Three Mile Run Road east of State Route 313 and Old Bethlehem Road and lower the posted speed limit on those stretches from 35 mph to 25 mph.
Township Engineer Steve Baluh presented the ordinance draft and said the change follows a recommendation in the township's 2020 Comprehensive Plan and has been advertised for a public hearing before the Board of Supervisors on June 25, 2024. Chairperson Joe Chellew noted a typographical error in Article III of the Streets Ordinance (the minutes record an incorrect word choice) and asked that it be corrected in the draft.
On a motion by Commissioner Blake Eisenhart, seconded by Commissioner Colin Monahan, the commission recommended the amendment to Section 1717 of Chapter 27, Section 506 of Chapter 22 and Chapter 15 "as presented." The motion passed with all present voting in favor. The minutes record no further discussion on the ordinance at the Planning Commission level.
The commission also approved the April 11, 2024 meeting minutes on a motion by Vice-Chairperson Anne Fenley, seconded by Commissioner Colin Monahan. With no public comment recorded, Vice-Chairperson Fenley moved to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Richard Kelly seconded; the meeting adjourned at 7:11 PM.
The Planning Commission's recommendation does not by itself change speed limits; it forwards the advertised ordinance to the Board of Supervisors for the scheduled June 25 public hearing and any subsequent action by the board. The draft ordinance and the specific code sections cited in the motion will be considered at that hearing.
