Bolton Inland Wetlands Commission approves regulation-size soccer field at Herrick Park

The Bolton Inland Wetlands Commission on Dec. 16 approved an application to construct a 300-foot regulation soccer field at Herrick Park (29 Hebron Rd), voting 4–0 to accept the plans and contract documents.
Joseph Dillion presented updated preliminary plans and Wetlands Agent Alyssa Barroso reviewed the updated cross section. Dillion said there are no plans for lighting and that he and town staff will conduct on-site inspections during construction. The Commission was told the field will be completed by the next growing season and available for use in 2027.
Member Michael McDonnell said the application did not include recommendations from Dr. William Dest and asked that those recommendations be sent to the Commission for the record and review. Chair Ross Lally and other commissioners discussed the submitted materials before McDonnell moved to approve the application; Vice Chair James Loersch seconded, and the motion carried unanimously, 4:0:0.
The approval includes construction per the submitted plans and contract documents and inspectors on site. The Commission did not authorize field lighting as part of this approval. Next steps are construction oversight and on-site inspections by the town and the applicant.
