The Bolton Planning & Zoning Commission on May 8 reviewed a simplified "permitted uses" table intended to streamline the town's subdivision and zoning regulations. Patrice Carson, AICP, consulting director of community development, and Michael D'Amato, interim zoning enforcement officer, presented the changes and fielded commissioners' recommendations.
Carson said staff alphabetized the permitted uses and grouped like categories to surface duplicates and similar uses that could be combined. Carson also explained the abbreviations at the end of the table. D'Amato said he and Carson had worked together to produce a version that is easier for staff and applicants to navigate.
Commission members examined the table line by line and made recommendations to several categories. The minutes record that staff will send out the modifications made at the meeting for additional review before any formal adoption or vote.
No formal regulatory changes were adopted at the May 8 meeting. The commission's next steps are limited to staff revisions and follow-up discussion at a future meeting where any proposed regulatory amendments would be scheduled for formal consideration.
