Easton school committee approves slate of subcommittee and board appointments

The Easton School Committee approved a series of subcommittee and board appointments for the July 1–June 30 term, voting unanimously on motions to fill vacancies and continue existing assignments.

Chair (speaker 1) moved to appoint Lauren Loomis to the animal assisted therapy oversight committee; the motion was seconded and approved by roll-call. The committee also reappointed Kelly Persio and Jim Hamilton to the school committee budget subcommittee, and confirmed Jim Hamilton on the audit committee and the municipal building committee. Jackie Wiseman was appointed to the school planning committee and, along with Jim Hamilton, to the town budget subcommittee. Colleen Prowler was appointed to the human rights committee and to the ECAT board of directors. The committee appointed Lauren Loomis to the school wellness committee.

The chair noted that town subcommittees (audit, human rights, municipal building and town budget subcommittee) require members to be sworn in at town hall and that administrative staff—identified in the meeting as Vanessa—must complete and submit paperwork to the town before swearing-in can occur. "I will work with Vanessa on that," the chair said, and added she would notify the committee when filings are complete so members can be sworn.

Several committees were reported inactive or awaiting town action: the school planning committee remains in place until MSBA close-out is complete, and members believed the Envision Easton Master Plan advisory role has concluded though the chair said she would confirm with the select board.

The appointments were handled sequentially during the meeting; each motion was seconded and carried by roll call with all members voting yes.
