Mount Olive board approves TRC contracts for CDBG projects; OKs $23,500 wastewater capacity study

Interim Town Manager Glenn Holland said TRC and town staff would supervise the work, and Town Clerk Sherry Davis added that the state funding agency also provides oversight. Commissioner Tommy Brown moved approval; Commissioner Danny Keel seconded, and the motion passed 5-0.
Board members then approved Action Memo 09-27, adopting TRC Companies capital project ordinances needed to implement the CDBG-funded infrastructure work. Commissioner Tommy Brown moved the ordinance approvals, Commissioner Vicky Darden seconded, and the vote was 5-0.
The board also approved routine business items: Action Memo 09-28 to adopt the Aug. 4, 2025 regular meeting minutes (moved by Commissioner Danny Keel; seconded by Commissioner Tommy Brown; passed 5-0) and the meeting agenda (moved by Commissioner Danny Keel; seconded by Commissioner Tommy Brown; passed 5-0). Earlier the board had approved a motion to excuse Mayor Jerome Newton’s absence (moved by Commissioner Tommy Brown; seconded by Commissioner Vicky Darden; passed 5-0).
On Action Memo 09-29 the board authorized TRC Companies to perform a wastewater treatment plant capacity evaluation for $23,500. Commissioner Tommy Brown moved approval; Commissioner Danny Keel seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
The board announced its next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., and adjourned at the close of the special meeting.
