Laura McIntyre, organizer of the Great Bangor Marathon, addressed the council on the event’s certification, purpose and safety precautions. She said organizers met with Northern Light’s Medical Response Team, have secured ambulance coverage for Bangor and are working to provide an ambulance outside the city limits.
McIntyre said organizers can provide an additional Certificate of Insurance naming the Town of Glenburn through USA Track and Field, and that volunteer marshals will receive training before the event.
Councilor Chris Grotton urged care in selecting volunteers for traffic control. The council did not take formal action; McIntyre’s presentation served as a briefing and an opportunity for staff and council to raise operational questions.
