During the May 18 joint Administrative/Finance/Public Works work session, aldermen discussed logistics for the City’s July 4 fireworks event. Aldermen Jacalyn Schauer and Angela Bilkey raised the topic and the Board considered options for public viewing and managing noise impacts.
The Board reached a consensus that it was too late to coordinate bus or shuttle service for the 2026 fireworks but said exploring shuttle service for 2027 would be worthwhile. The Board directed city staff to identify and publish open public viewing areas for the July 4 show so residents would know where to watch. Alderman Schauer suggested considering a drone show as an alternative if shuttle service could not be arranged; Alderman Bilkey proposed incorporating ‘quiet fireworks’ to reduce noise impacts for neighbors.
No formal action or vote was recorded at the work session; these items were discussed as planning options and staff follow-up assignments.
