Hampton Township introduces 2026 budget; municipal portion rises five cents

Township Chief Financial Officer Jessica Caruso introduced the 2026 Hampton Township budget at the March 31 meeting and said the document will be posted online and available at the municipal building beginning April 1. A public hearing is scheduled for April 28, 2026, when residents may ask questions and comment.
Caruso said the budget reduces both revenues and appropriations by $177,136.63 from the prior year but increases the municipal portion of the tax rate by $0.05. "The average 2026 assessed home value is $230,000," Caruso said, and that increase on the municipal portion of the tax bill is estimated at approximately $9.65 per month. She said the municipal portion accounts for roughly 16% of the overall property tax rate and that the total tax-rate increase including county and school levies is projected at $0.13.
Caruso told the committee the budget team focused on limiting spending while covering unavoidable cost pressures, citing higher costs for garbage collection, road repairs and a roughly 30% rise in insurance premiums. She said some prior-year grant funding was not available in 2026 and that capital reserves were used where appropriate to fund necessary projects.
The Committee voted to introduce the budget. The public hearing and final adoption will take place April 28, 2026, at the Hampton Township Municipal Building, when residents will have the opportunity to comment or request clarifications.
