The Douglass Township Planning Agency on April 10 recommended that the Berks-Montgomery Sewer Authority receive a Letter of Support for a PA Small Water and Sewer Grant application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Agency members were told the grant would fund sanitary sewer collection system rehabilitation at Township Line Road and County Line Road in Colebrookdale Township and at Maple and Elm Streets in the Colonial Manor neighborhood of Douglass Township. Mr. Reitz moved and Mr. Heydt seconded a recommendation that the Agency provide a Letter of Support to the authority.
The motion passed; the minutes record Richardson, Rick, Heydt, Reitz and Stouch voting Aye and Ms. Carpenter recorded as recused. The minutes list Ms. Gisinger-Doran without an expressed vote for this motion; the recorded outcome is "Motion passed." The recommendation directs staff to provide a Letter of Support to the Berks-Montgomery Municipal Authority to accompany its PADEP grant application.
Why it matters: the project seeks state grant funding to rehabilitate aging sanitary sewer collection lines that serve Colonial Manor in Douglass Township and stretches of Colebrookdale Township; successful state funding could improve system reliability and reduce risk of sanitary overflows. The Planning Agency's recommendation will accompany the authority's grant materials.
