At its May 4 meeting, the Nash County Board of Commissioners approved a package of budget and capital-project actions. Finance Officer Nikki Stanton presented 15 separate budget amendments, the Project Patriot Project Budget Ordinance, and multiple capital project ordinance amendments.
Key budget actions included approval of PSBRRF and public school capital draws totaling $734,211 (funded from the North Carolina education lottery), an insurance-proceeds appropriation of $330,000 for the Administration building water damage, multiple transfers to support Middlesex and Nashville shell building projects, and a Project Patriot fund-balance appropriation of $78,818 (the county expects reimbursement from Freedom Industries). The board approved all 15 amendments on a single motion.
The board also approved change orders and contract actions: it amended the Nash County Administration Building and DSS Annex Roof Replacement Project to a total contract amount of $694,313.13 and authorized final payment; it approved Change Order 2 for Middlesex Shell Building 3 and a Northern Nash Water System Phase 2 Contract 2 Change Order #3. The board awarded the professional services contract for Southern Nash Middle School Offsite Utility Improvements to Stocks Engineering in the amount of $221,668 and authorized the county manager to execute the contract.
