Southampton Committee approves appointments, adopts tax adjustments and advances two ordinances to first reading

At its Feb. 18 regular meeting, the Southampton Township Committee adopted several resolutions and moved two ordinances forward on first reading.
Resolutions adopted included: 2025-33 through 2025-36 (tax-collector record adjustments and Totally Disabled Veteran exemptions); 2025-37 appointing Nancy Gower as Municipal Chief Financial Officer; 2025-38 appointing a Qualified Purchasing Agent; 2025-39 authorizing a shared services agreement with the Burlington County Soil Conservation District for stormwater management facility inspections and related services; and 2025-40 appointing Brandon E. Umba as Municipal Housing Liaison. All of these measures passed on roll call votes with five affirmative votes.
Deputy Mayor Elizabeth Rossell moved first reading of Ordinance 2025-01 to amend solicitor licensing requirements; Committeeman Arnold Harrison seconded and the Committee approved first reading. Committeeman Harrison also moved first reading of Ordinance 2025-02, an amendment to Chapter 12-4.12 (Fair Share Plan and Affordable Housing) to provide for collection of development fees as permitted by the New Jersey Fair Housing Act; that first reading likewise passed. Both ordinances will return for a future hearing and formal adoption.
The shared-services agreement with the Burlington County Soil Conservation District was described as covering stormwater management facility inspections and related services; Administrator Brandon Umba confirmed the arrangement includes Leisuretowne storm drains. The Committee approved bills for payment earlier in the meeting and otherwise conducted routine municipal business.
