A different rezoning request scheduled for the meeting was withdrawn by the applicant, Matthew Deason, and the public hearing on that item was adjourned without council consideration.
Supporters of the Kanakis submission argued the change would allow the property owner to proceed with the proposed housing plan; a council member opposed the ordinance but no further recorded debate or amendments were made on the floor.
The ordinance will take the administrative steps required by city code following approval, and no additional council action was recorded at the meeting on conditions or implementation.
