Commission approves Old Wharf Road revetment expansion; adds storm‑debris cleanup language

Bob Perry, the engineer for the applicant, told the commission the team had provided additional reports and that the project had been close to approval at the prior hearing. “We were on the threshold of an approval based upon all the information that had been submitted,” Perry said.

One commissioner said the contested condition "was from me," and that town council had advised the commission it could not use that condition; that commissioner said the condition would be rescinded. Another commissioner (Bill Norman) pressed to retain language requiring property owners to remove debris after storms if structures were damaged; commissioners agreed to include cleanup wording in the order.
A motion to approve the project as presented, with the addition of Bill Norman’s cleanup comment, was made and seconded. The chair asked for votes; the commission approved the project with four votes in favor and one abstention.
The commission’s approval authorizes staff to draft the final order of conditions reflecting the added cleanup language and to proceed with the permit process for the revetment reconstruction and expansion.
