Story County Board approves FY27 provider and program agreements for health, senior and social services

The agreements approved include a Provider and Program Participation Agreement with the Center for Creative Justice for reentry and correctional services and an extensive set of health and senior-service contracts. The board approved an agreement with Mary Greeley Medical Center for community clinics (capped at $100,000) and in-home nursing and hospice services (caps listed in the agreement). Contracts supporting childcare, out-of-school programming, volunteer transportation (RSVP), home-delivered meals and adult day services (Heartland of Story County), and maternal and child health services (Mid-Iowa Community Action and Primary Health Care) were also authorized.
The board approved an agreement with the Legal Aid Society of Story County for civil legal aid services at $208.38 per staff hour with a not-to-exceed amount listed in the contract, and agreements with local providers such as ACCESS for shelter and crisis support, Childserve Community Options for daycare services, and a contract with Navigate360 for anonymous tip reporting ($2,588.67 for one year).
Supervisors also acknowledged letters of support signed by the board chair for local grant applications and approved a letter to U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst urging support for an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act related to the federal review of wind energy projects.
The consent agenda included a second amendment to EA Engineering’s agreement extending the Climate Action Plan completion date and a memorandum of agreement between Story County Veterans Affairs and Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency to support veteran transportation options through July 1, 2028. Other routine items approved included utility permits, a temporary outdoor service amendment for the Loyal Order of Moose in Ames (contingent on event permitting), and an administrative services agreement for short-term disability benefits ($1.44 per participant per month).
The consent agenda was approved on a roll-call vote, recorded as unanimous (motion to approve the consent agenda moved by Latifah Faisal and seconded by Lisa Heddens). The approved contracts are effective on the dates listed in each agreement and include multiple not-to-exceed caps that specify county fiscal exposure for FY27.
