The Saukville Utility Committee met May 20, 2025, at the Saukville Wastewater Treatment Plant to review wastewater plant planning and compliance matters. Wastewater Superintendent Ray Hartmann said the facilities plan covering biosolids dewatering and dryers should be completed by late fall and that the WWTP’s new discharge permit will take effect in September and requires future PFAS testing.
The committee reviewed the 2024 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report (CMAR), which Hartmann said gave the WWTP/Utility an A – 4.0 rating. Committee member Wendy Smith moved to recommend approval of the 2024 CMAR to the Village Board; Bill Rudolph is recorded as supporting the recommendation. The motion carried; the meeting minutes do not specify a vote tally.
Hartmann also outlined near-term sewer work, saying the Knollwood Street and Whitegate Street project will begin the week of May 27, 2025, and that sewer laterals in that project will be slip lined. The facilities plan and the new permit’s PFAS testing requirements were presented as drivers of future capital and operational decisions for the plant.
Why it matters: the facilities plan and permit changes set regulatory and capital milestones for Saukville’s wastewater operations. Completion of the facilities plan will inform equipment choices and potential budget needs; the committee’s recommendation sends the 2024 CMAR to the Village Board for formal approval.
Next steps: the committee recommended the CMAR for Village Board approval; the facilities plan will continue through the fall and the new discharge permit takes effect in September. The meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
