The Atlantic Beach City Commission unanimously approved Resolution 24‑52 on Oct. 14, authorizing $75,000 in FY2024‑25 funding for arts, cultural and recreational programs and directing the city manager to execute necessary contracts.
Lisa Goodrich, chair of the Arts & Recreation Committee, told commissioners that ARC interviewed 22 applicants who collectively sought $124,000 and that the committee scored and negotiated awards to fit the $75,000 budget. She highlighted that a number of applicants offer programming that could serve the planned Marsh Oaks community center when that facility opens.
Commissioners asked whether demand has increased and whether the grant program runs out of funds; Goodrich and staff said applications have grown and that ARC recommended awards based on committee scoring. Kevin Hogencamp, deputy city manager (introduced by staff), and city staff recommended approval. Commissioner Bullock moved to approve the resolution; the motion passed unanimously.
Resolution 24‑52 authorizes the city manager to provide the FY2024‑25 funding to designated organizations, to execute contracts and purchase orders consistent with account number 1‑6010‑572‑82‑00, and takes effect immediately for implementation by staff.
