The Town of Union Board voted unanimously on a slate of routine but consequential items during its June 5 meeting.
Key actions approved included authorization to purchase a 2023 Ford Transit cargo van for Dog Control from Williams Ford for $48,184, award of professional architectural and engineering services to CPL for the Town Slip Lining Project for $43,335, and a budget transfer moving $45,000 for demolition at 749 West Main Street. The Board also approved amendments reallocating Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds: $240,000 to Johnson City's Grand Ave Phase #7 street reconstruction and $150,000 to the Village of Endicott's N. Arthur Avenue project, and called a 30-day public comment period and a July 10 public hearing on the FFY 2024–2025 consolidated CDBG and HOME plans.
The Board authorized bid advertisements for cleaning of sewer lines at West Corners and South Seward pump stations and for septic tank pumping and sludge disposal, with bid openings scheduled for June 18. Resolutions authorizing the agreements and procurements were adopted unanimously by board members present.
Several smaller event- and permit-related approvals were also carried, including street closures, pavilion use with fee waivers for local organizations, and a summer field trip agreement with Greek Peak Mountain Resort. The Board referred traffic-control and street-light requests to the Commissioner of Public Works for follow-up.
