Seward County board approves claims, utility permit and surplus disposal

At its June 2 meeting the Seward County Board of Commissioners approved the minutes from May 26 and accepted vendor claims through May 22, 2026. The motion to approve claims carried by an affirmative vote of Darrell Zabrocki, Ken Schmieding, Raegan Hain and Chairperson Misty Ahmic (4-0).
The board also approved the consent agenda. Consent items included a utility permit for Viaero Fiber to construct underground conduits on 462nd Road between Little Salt Road and Highway 34 in Section 7, Township 12 North, Range 1 East of the 6th p.m., and a surplus property disposal request for Emergency Management. The consent agenda motion was moved by Zabrocki, seconded by Hain and approved 4-0.
Board members did not provide additional detail on the surplus property or the Viaero Fiber project during the meeting beyond the permit description on the agenda. Future agenda items were announced, and the board recessed and later reconvened for other business.
