Board accepts bids for expand-apron project and authorizes grant application submission

At the June 1 meeting the Goshen City Airport Board opened competitive bids for the Expand Apron construction project and took two formal actions: accepting the bids on the record and authorizing Randy to sign the FAA/state grant application to pursue funding.
During the bid opening Daniel (speaker 8) read the bidders and amounts; Milestone Contractors submitted $1,827,722 and Brown submitted $1,615,141 against an engineer’s estimate of $1,630,638. The board accepted the bids and then voted to authorize Randy (speaker 2) to sign the grant application to the FAA and state agencies. Daniel stressed that submitting an application does not obligate the board financially — obligations begin only after a grant agreement is executed, which staff expects to receive in the fall.
The board also accepted a Wolpert pay request for $27,000 (95% FAA / 2.5% state / 2.5% local) tied to the Taxi Lane C design and administrative services and ratified earlier contract amendments that reduced a professional fee by $1,764.
Staff said they will ask bidders to hold their bids until the grant agreement is issued, at which point the board will be in a position to execute construction contracts with the selected bidder.
