Planning commission approves waiver for two-acre administrative lot on Abe Myers Road

On May 18 the Berkeley County Planning Commission approved a waiver to Section 505.d of the Subdivision and Land Use Ordinance (2025) to permit an administrative subdivision creating a two-acre parcel on approximately 19 acres at 587 Abe Myers Road.
Applicant John Dellinger told the commission he placed a mobile home on the property for his mother-in-law, who has since passed, and that he wanted to create a two-acre lot for that unit. He said he does not intend to develop the remaining 17 acres and uses it for hunting and fishing.
Commissioners closed the public hearing and voted to grant the requested waiver. The waiver relaxes the requirement for a 50-foot right-of-way/easement from the proposed administrative subdivision lot(s) to a West Virginia Department of Highways right-of-way, as specified in the ordinance; staff will document the waiver and next steps for recordation.
