Records Improvement Committee adopts resolution updates and approves plan, guidelines and applications

The Centre County Records Improvement Committee on April 28 approved several governance and plan changes, including rotating committee leadership, appointing a committee secretary and adopting updates to the County Records Improvement Resolution, Records Management Improvement Plan, funding guidelines and the funding application.
The Committee approved a rotation of Chair and Vice-Chair (motion by Commissioner Steven Dershem; second by Prothonotary Jeremy Breon) and unanimously appointed Erin Good as Committee Secretary (motion by Sheriff Bryan Sampsel; second by Commissioner Mark Higgins).
The Committee adopted changes to the Centre County Records Improvement Resolution to require appointing a Secretary at the first regularly scheduled meeting of each even-numbered year and to permit regular meetings to be scheduled as necessary on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
The Committee also approved recommended changes to the Records Management Improvement Plan. Recorder of Deeds Joe Davidson proposed—and the Committee accepted—an additional phrasing change under item 5B to require the county to “provide secure storage, including climate control and fire suppression, for backup copies of vital records,” removing the previously used phrase "offsite records." The Committee likewise approved changes to the Records Improvement Committee Guidelines and the Application for Funding as presented.
All listed governance and plan changes were adopted by unanimous votes recorded in the minutes.
