Henniker hears requests: Community Action asks for $14,000; Concert Committee outlines fund‑raising plan for 2026 series

Community Action: Beth Hayward, director of strategy and planning for Community Action (Belknap‑Merrimack), thanked the town for 20 years of support and requested the same appropriation as the prior year — $14,000 — to help operate resource centers that provide fuel, electric, food pantry assistance, Meals on Wheels and related services. Hayward said that in the last year 362 people from Henniker were served in 195 households and listed program areas supported by the appropriation.
Concert series: Ruth Zacks, speaking for the Concert Committee, reviewed a proposed 2026 budget of $25,050 for a 12‑week summer series. She said the committee projects raising approximately $20,700 in sponsorships and other revenue and that the remaining roughly $4,350 could come from taxation or the concert trust fund; the committee prefers to rely on fundraising but asked the board to consider trust‑fund support if necessary. The committee also noted rising band fees and police‑detail costs for high‑attendence shows.
Board members asked questions about trust‑fund balances and alternative revenue sources; staff said the concert committee had underspent its 2024 budget and that trust funds exist for recreation and concert support. No appropriation votes were taken Nov. 4; the requests were provided to the board for budget‑season consideration.
